April being"Chaitra Baisakh" month according to the Indian calendar has already started with Navratri vrat /upvaas. These delightful nine days bring happiness, enthusiasm, and festivity to Indian homes.
- Samak rice contains both soluble and insoluble fibers. It provides a myriad of fiber as compared to other cereals. It helps in healthy digestion and keeps the stomach fulfilled for a long time during fasting.

Ingredients
To Soak
- Sama/samak/varai/ Barnyard millet- 1cup
- Curd- 1/2 cup
- Water-1 cup (to soak) quantity can be changed as per consistency.
To add after Soaking
- Boiled grated Potato- 2 large size
- Chopped green chilies-2
- Chopped green coriander-2 tablespoon
- Crushed black peppercorn-1 teaspoon
- Salt- 1 teaspoon
- Shingada flour / Water chestnut flour- 1/2 cup
Note: If Shingada flour is not available, other Fasting food flours like Kuttu, Rajgira can also be added to the same mix for the binding purpose
Preparation Process
Step-1
In a mixing bowl, take 1 cup of Samyak ice, add curd, and a 1/2 cup of water.
Step-2
Mix all the ingredients well and keep it to rest for 15 minutes.
Step-3
After 15 minutes of soaking add grated potato, green chili, fresh coriander, salt, and pepper to the mix.
Step-4
Mix and Combine well.
Step-5
In the last add the binder flour and mix well.
Note: Add water if required to get the thick pouring consistency.
Step-6
Heat the Appe pan on low medium heat, and drizzle little oil in the cavities.
Step-7
Pour 1 tablespoon of batter into each cavity of the pan. Drizzle little oil over them. Cover and cook.
Step-8
Flip the Appe with the help of a spoon after one side turned golden red.
Step-9
Once both the sides turn golden take the Appe out of the pan.
Final serve
Serve hot Appe with green coriander chutney or chilled curd seasoned with salt and pepper for best taste.
