Dry fruits Jain chaat is a vegan, nutritiously dense, diet food. It is absolutely filling and contains a plethora of proteins and other nutrients.
The first time I came across this Indian Style Mewa chaat, was in a traditional time-honored north-Indian Jain wedding. Consuming grains and cereals post-sunset is mostly avoided by many Jain families, especially the elderly. This chaat, therefore, is a perfect evening snack for such guests. When I tasted it the first time, I found it to be extremely rich in flavors and great texture. The choice of dry fruits complements each other really well. Ever since then, this chaat is something that I look forward to eagerly in Jain weddings.
I once asked for the recipe from the confectioner at a wedding for this healthy vegan dry fruit bhel and then tried my hand at it at home with some fusion and modifications. The result was extremely inviting and satisfying.
